It’s only the preseason, but Thursday night’s loss was not a good sign for the Washington Redskins.
Yes, the team played without Albert Haynesworth and the game means virtually nothing, but you never wanted to be dominated 23-0 by a regional rival.
The Redskins not only failed to get on the scoreboard, but they also came up with less than 200 total yards of offense.
The defense wasn’t much better, surrending 500 total yards despite only a brief appearance from Baltimore’s starting offensive unit.

In a move that comes as a surprise to no one, Redskins new defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is going to miss the team’s preseason opener Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens.
Haynesworth has been bothered by a problematic left knee that he has said he dealt with all of last season, but both he and head coach Jim Zorn have publicly stated that they’re pleased with where he is as far as his conditioning goes, and that the knee won’t affect his durability during the regular season.
When healthy, the former Tennessee Titan is an unstoppable force in the middle, but therein lies the problem: he has trouble staying on the field. Haynesworth has appeared in all 16 games of the season just once in his career, and that was his first. That didn’t stop Daniel Snyder from making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned since he took over the team, it’s that nothing does when “The Danny” wants something.
By all accounts, Haynesworth could and would have suited up had this been the regular season opener. But that should do little to settle the uneasy feeling in Redskins fans’ stomaches.
